San Francisco jeweler, Alix Bluh has a background
steeped in the Arts. She was an Award winning designer even before
she knew that jewelry would be the path she would fallow. There
were many exhibits and galleries that featured her paintings and
Assemblage works, including the Seoul Olympics Art Festival in
1988.
In 1989, while living in London she started collecting and selling
Antiques as she pursued making one-of-kind jewelry pieces. She
combined a fascination with time worn objects with that of cutting
edge arts.
She came back to the U.S and operated a store where she could
sell her eclectic finds while incorporating many treasures into
her unique art. Her "jewelry" pieces included original
tin-type photographs, pocket watch parts, and various curios.
Her exploration in painting, sculpture and assemblage literally
shrunk into wearable art.
Future forward, a decade later, the designs are as unique as
ever. Her collection echoes themes that are both sentimental
as well as modern. For example, the Victorian love affair with
the natural sciences, reflected in miniature botanical engravings
under glass.
Each piece seems to tell a story, each collection a new chapter
in a really good book. The book of MODERN RELICS!
