Kristin Lora grew up in California working in a variety of art
mediums including metal-smithing, jewelry, glass, ceramics, sculpture
and painting. Always appreciating color and natural elements,
Kristin chose to focus on creating beautiful and artful jewelry
and metal objects. Kristin has always been fascinated with
creating jewelry to compliment a wearer’s style and personality
yet with the understanding of how to make each item a valued treasure
to its owner. For this, she has chosen to work with high quality
materials and handcrafted techniques to ensure the jewelry is both
unique in its composition and recognized for its value.
Kristin Lora jewelry can be defined as contemporary, original and
fresh…and often contains a touch of humor. Kristin gets
her inspiration from a variety of sources such as natural forms
and objects as well as the materials themselves. She focuses
on highlighting the natural beauty of the stones, the pliability
of the metals and tries to add at touch of whimsy and movement for
the wearer’s entertainment.
Although Kristin is primarily self-taught, making jewelry for over
25 years, Kristin has studied with some of the world’s finest
metalsmiths and jewelers around the world at various industry conferences,
Revere Academy, Mendocino Art Center, San Francisco State University,
Santa Fe College among others.
Kristin Lora holds a degree in Zoology from the University of California,
Berkeley and an MBA from Cornell University. After many years
of splitting her time between corporate jobs and her art interests,
Kristin recently decided to leave her executive corporate role to
focus on her jewelry full time. In doing so, Kristin, her husband
and 3 dogs chose to relocate from San Francisco to Santa Fe, New
Mexico. |
